New theme to blog and life

Aha! I’ve managed it! Its taken me a a day off work, shivering under a duvet, to force me to spend time with my blog but I think I’ve done it! I’ve got the nice looking theme which could fool anyone into believing Montigny sur Loing has a secret location with a little bridge over a misty lake and an autumnal forest surrounding it.

A lot has happened since my unsure and nervous blog post a few weeks ago. The banks have come through, my UK Unmarried Partners Visa has been granted, the French have been relatively straightforward on the ‘Carte Sejour’ Visa and guess what, even Prodigy (the MBA finance company set up by Insead students) managed to find some money to offer me a (very expensive) loan! I’m almost starting to believe I could live a life of luxury with three loans from three different sources (and then spend the rest of my adult life paying off my debt).

3 weeks and counting to the big move. Like all important things in life, I assume for some strange reason, that cosmic forces will come together to organise my move, help  me pack, complete my pre-reading (which I still believe I can do in 3 days) and help me settle in to a nice little french cottage on the edge of a forest on a cold January morning when France is locked up and tucked away near warm fireplaces for the New Year weekend. Try finding a pint of milk or even better a can of petrol – impossible.

They say we should try and enjoy the prefrosher phase, infact someone said this was as good as it gets. I can tell you this much, it is not easy. Moving house away from partner and children, work friends, friends in general, giving up the buzz that comes as being part of a corporate finance outfit in the city, laying your hands on real life size deals, the comfort of a salaried life (take back – I did promise I wouldnt whinge about money) and general complacency – writing this out reminds me of the some the reasons I chose to apply for an MBA age 29.
